Hi All,

New to this forum. Thought I'd see if any out there had experienced this problem. My wife and I bought this 2002 Accord new from the dealer. Last several months, we noticed the gas pedal will be stuck after the first start of the day. (We start the car usually without using the gas pedal). When we put into gear, the gas pedal requires some force to unstick it. No problems sticking thereafter. However, if the car sits for a long time (4 hours or so); this condition will reappear. Always happens when the car is first used in the day. It seems like the gas pedal (linkage) is experiencing some type of initial binding. Not sure why it only happens after the car sits for a while. Should not be happening on such a new car.
Any thoughts or similar experiences???
Also, any suggestions on where to go for HONDA replacement parts (example: spark plug wires, O2 sensor, filters, plugs, etc...) websites??

 

A lot of 6th gen owners have had this problem, including myself. I know the problem, you'll start up the car, throw it in R/D, and have to apply hella pressure to get the pedal to apply fuel. This probably isn't a proper responce, but the problem went away when I added a throddle body spacer. I haven't had a sticking throddle in a few months now. The part I added was the Helix PowerTower, it's pretty worthless as far as preformance gains go (+20hp MY ASS), but it will save you a little gas, I noticed about 30m gain per full tank. It's around $60-80, and won't take you but about 45 minutes to install. Unplug the one or two sensors (I forget) that plug into your intake tube, remove intake tube, remove the left side of the throddle body (I forget the specific name, and this is the HARDEST part, there's two bolts without allen heads or anything that you have to vice grip out, that'll take you the bulk of your time lol.) Add the spacer, and reverse the install process. There is an electronic wiring harness that needs to be plugged back in though, I forgot to do that and on my test drive I couldn't shift out of first heh.
