Default Intake install questions

installing an aem short ram on my 94 accord lx today. is it really necessary to drain a gallon of coolant like the instructions say? Also, i was looking on this site for pics http://www.hondalive.net/lordaccord/intake/index.html but i can't seem to find that FIA controller line that im supposed to put the foam filter in. Maybe mines a little different cuz i have the f22b2 instead of the f22b1 like in the pic? Any ideas?

I've installed a short ram intake on a 90 Accord EX, 93 Accord EX w/ABS, 99 Accord LX, and a 94 Mazda MX-6. Never once did I have to drain coolant. They are easy and should take less than half an hour; If you don't know how to do them it should still take less than an hour.

u might be reading instructions for Cold Air Intake. I know they ask to drain some coolant for an odd safety reason or something stupid. U will be fine. Just plug in any air sensor u had on the old intake into the hole u have on ur new intake.

I have an AEM short ram for my 6th gen. The directions are the same so I know what your talking about. It not necessary to drain any coolant to install the intake.

Yeah i decided to do it without draining any coolant. i think they tell you to do that because they think when you change that coolant hose some coolant will come out or something, but none did. It was a pretty easy install except those stock breather and coolant hoses were kinda a biatch to get off. As for my impressions, it sounds really really cool at WOT, and that sucking noise when you turn off the car is nice too. As for performance gains, i really don't feel anything, in fact i think i might have lost a little torque...oh well i should get that back when i put on my world sport 2 next week

that coolant line is only on VTEC models i believe and it's only if you change out that mess of hardwires that gets left hanging with a piece of rubber tube that AEM supplies but offers no instructions what to do with it.
