Default 6th Gen Accord Torque Converter

Will a Level 10 torque converter on my auto-tranny I-4 Accord give me any kind of gains or benifits? I've heard that the Auto-tranny robs a lot of power and a torque converter will bring some back. Any opinions on this? and will my ride quality suffer? I only have the basic I/H/E/C/P and DO NOT want to swap for a 5spd manual tranny. Let me know what you guys think, thanks

I higher stall speed torque converter means your engine will rev to a higher RPM before your car starts to move forward. Your tranny will coast then drop into coast sooner as you go down in rpm as well. I doubt it would improve your gas milage and around town driveability much.

I'm not sure, if you owned a V6 and were running a Comptech Supercharger, or regularly ran at the track with Nitrous I would recommend the TC as it would keep the tranny slightly cooler, maybe, and it likely would suit your needs better. But as is, your just running basic bolt-ons for daily use. I would spend the money on something else. TC really only help if you are making significantly more power, it isn't going to provide any less resistance in the tranny itself, it's just going to raise your stall speed.

hmmm, well i guess im stuck with just my bolt ons then...I still wanna pass Cali smog so i cant mess with the internals...and i dont wanna roll the dice with nitrous... Is there any way to get some of the power back from my auto-tranny other then tune it with VAFC? (and plz dont say swap for 5 spd or swap the engine, or buy a new car....cuz thats not what im askin..)

Are you looking for High end or Low end power?
You can looking to different size Gears ie: 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th differnt gear ratios give will give you different range of speed, but i dont know what that would do to your OEM ECU you might need it to be custom reprogrammed.

No it won't slow you down, but nice smooth engagement will be compromised. If your pulley a significant amount of HP Inincrease it would help you spool to a higher rpm and engage at a much more aggressive engine speed. This will also prevent you car from rolling forward at stop lights because of higher HP. You won't need to hold the brakes down to hold back the car.

If your just running standard bolt-ons, its not going to increase performance or tranny life much at all. Your money would be better on a tranny cooler.

Depends, what are you running now?

Do you drag race or autocross you car?
What HP are you pulling?
