I have a recently purchased 98 Accord EX with a 5sp 73,000miles. I noticed there is a sort or clunk or slap noise when the clutch hits it's activation point. I have been told it is one of two things: either the input shaft or related bearings; which requires the tranny to be rebuilt and lotsa $$$$ in labor. Or it is the Throwout bearing located in or near the clutch assembly.

I am curious if anyone out there has ever had any problems like this and could offer any insight? THX!
