Default ignition key

Help. My 93 key does not want to come out of the ignition.
About 1/2 the time it slide past tumbler with no problem.
Then it get stuck on the "1" and WILL NOT come out.
After about 15 mn of trying (and blisters on my fingers from turning) it will the slide out also.
Any hints - tricks - ideas???

If its an auto. make sure its reading that its in park.

last year when it got cold. the little spring in the shifter would get cold and not push the little bering into the "PARK" mode telling the car it was in park. The parking pin would set adn the car wouldnt move. but the dash wouldnt show that it was in park. therefor not letting me remove the key.

I also would like to know how to fix.
We have to wiggle the shift, someines pulling back on it till the light comes on. Sometimes turning car off and back on.
The box for the park click in under the area where the ash tray should be. If anyone knows how to fix - or any other shortcuts,
let us know. Its a pain to drive. Ive been stuck before waiting for the light to come on so I can get out of the car finally.
Thank - all info is helpful.

Try rocking the car back and forth sounds crazy but it works. I did that to my brothers 91 civic, same problem. I guess the PARK gears locked into place.

A couple of things:

1) See if you can get a new key made. A lot of times it's because of a worn key. Take your regisition and your ID to your local Honda dealer.

2) Coule be the ignition switch. This is an expensive fix though. Either the key clylinder or the switch right behind the tumbler (there is a spring inside the switch).
