I'm going to attempt to change the AT fluid in my 98 Accord Coupe V6 this weekend. Does anyone have any advice? i can read directions well but don't have a whole lot of experience with car maintenance.

I'm getting the manual and the Tranny Fluid, and filter kit.

anything problems i may run into?

It should be the same as a regular oil change. The bolt that you have to unscrew has a built-in magnet to it. Clean off the metal shavings on the bolt as the fluids drain. then plug it up again and filler up.

 

Have fun cracken the bolt off. It its ur first time make sure you have a big enough bar to get enough tourque. Anything craftsman or better is ok. Just dun use the cheep tools though.

 

You have to drive until your tranny is hot. You can lift the driver side up just a bit higher cause it drains right.

 

I could never locate the filler bolt on my I4, so I used a long dipstick, and poured ATF into the dipstick hole It was a 1/2 quart that I used after I isntalled the tranny cooler...

 

actually, the transmission is on the driver's side on the 6th gen V6. I would assume lifteing the car on the passenger side would help in his case...

The I4s have the transmission on the passenger's side...

 

Use geniune honda transmission fluid, if you don't then your transmission could possibly start to shudder and shift poorly.
