Default 4th gen- is this bad? pic

ok you 4th genners- you know what light is on, and its usually catastrophic:

NoOilPressure93Accord

It has plenty of oil, no funny noises from the engine, runs fine. Any ideas?

Short of putting a real oil pressure gauge on it, I'd GUESS a bad oil pressure switch or a short-to-ground on the wire to the switch.

Unplug the oil pressure switch. If the light goes out you'll know it's not a short.

Have you been running it like that for a while? It'll survive a little while with no oil pressure, but not for long.

its been like that for about a week now. I called the local honda dealer, and they said more than likely its a bad oil pressure switch and a new one is around $30 or so. i just have no idea where its at. they said above the oil filter, but havent had a chance to get underneath and check it out.

it sounds like it's just the switch, but I wouldn't drive it until you get the switch. Just to be safe.

Nah, its just to demonstrate the fact that the engine runs while the oil pressure light remains on.

Replaced the oil pressure switch this morning- worked like a charm. Just a bit of a bitch to get leverage on with tools without removing the oil filter.
