Default power steering question

How do you know when your power steering is going bad.
I have a 96 accord ex and over the years I have never had any probs with my power steering. Lately when it is really cold and I start the car, and try to turn the steering wheel I hear all kinds of sqeaking noise from just turning the steering wheel what does that mean. I am going to have to change something aint I.

no there isnt force needed to turn the steering wheel. It is just noisy has hell with sqeaks and SH@# when it is very cold. It has never done this before. SO I figured the part must be going bad. Will I need to change the power steering pump to solve this prob. Also checked the fluid it is all fine no prob there

Usually when it whines like that it means that the reservoir is empty. Or u might have a leak somewhere.
