Default headunit question for accord

ok my 87 accord's radio headunit is screwed in at the back, which i'm guessing is not the norm for most headunits today.

my question is will a modern cd player headunit fit in the space where my old one used to be? as the current headunit dosen't seem to be fitted by today's methods, and i want to know if i could put a new cd player in with no problems

Go to Crutchfield website or call them up.
Many companies sell kits the retro fit a headunit into your dash, I'd imagine there is a nice kit somewhere for fitting a standard new single din radio into your car. Crutchfield and many shops will give you an install kit for free just for buying a new headunit.

theres no kit needed. Your new headunit will come with a mounting sleeve, which slides into the dash and attaches by bending the tabs on the sleeve to hold it onto the dash. The new deck then slides into the sleve and locks into place. If you wish, you can add a back strap and attach it to the stock mounting point.

Go to Crutchfield. If you're a little unsure of how to do the install yourself, they give you ALL the directions and they include any adapters or harnesses you may need for free! You could just go and get a head unit and try to figure it out yourself...but why?

It's real easy to put an aftermarket HU in an 87 Accord. I had one in mine. The best part is you can get to all the wiring from the footwells after the deck is installed. Like the other guys here said, all you need is the little wiring harness adapter, which Crutchfield throws in for free, and the trim piece, if necessary. Good luck!
