Which part of my stereo is screwed?
I've got a 1 Farad Capacitor, an Amp, and a headunit powering my car stereo. i've been having lots of problems with the CD player lately, so I suspect that is the problem. But I wanted to check before I buy another headunit.
When I attach the face, the music will play for 2 seconds then cutoff.
Does this sound like the cap, the amp, or the headunit?
Thanks.

Sounds like after you take off your face plate, that the Metal contacts aren't getting good connections. If you remove you face plate a lot, then it's bound to get lots of dirt and grim on those metal connectors. Try cleaning the ones on the back of your face plate, and the ones on your cd player, and let us know if that works. Also, does the cd player stop playing music or does it shut off?

It just stops playing music.
All the components have been installed since 1998. The amp cut off once back in 1999 after a 4 hour road trip.
But the CD player randomly spits out CD's.
However, in this case, no matter what source the headunit is reading, it will just not make any sounds. It will play for about 2 seconds then cut off.

you might want to make sure you wire in the back that is for a cellphone call which automatically mutes the music (if you have one) is not live and bouncing around or touching anything....i had that problem once...

does the sound pop kuz if thats the case then your grounding out your speaker wires.
one grounded speaker = no sound just a pop mayb some sound because not everything turns on at once. amps have a time delay when they turn on
check all wires before spending that much cash flow
