I want to get an exhaust but am not sure what kind to get, nor do I have that much money. I'm not building a race car here, so buying an 800 dollar name brand exhaust is not something that I care to do that much but I am looking at something that will give me some power gains as well as have a nice deep sound (not the real loud and high pitch crap that ricers have, but something that is deep and louder than stock but not super loud). I was looking on Ebay and saw an OBX daul exhaust for 4cyl accords for 250...what is your opinion on that? Anyone have experience with OBX exhausts (I went to the seller's website and he also has an OBX single exhaust for 250. Also, should I consider getting a custom exhaust made at a local muffler shop (meineke or whatever)? How do those compare to the name brand ones in terms of sound, quality, and power gains? What should I look for in terms of piping diameter, shape, etc? Thanks.

first off... dual exhausts on an i4 are :ghey:. i'm not too familiar with the OBX stuff, but check www.groupbuycenter.com they usually have really good deals on brand name stuff. as far a a good deep sound, but not too loud i'd suggest a Greddy EVO catback system. as far as catback exhaust the gains are minimal unless you're boosting, but they sound good.

Anyone know anything about that company/exhaust? It says its a catback but the picture only showed a rear section. The odd thing was that only this particular one's price was lower (The 2dr 4cyl one was higher, as well as the other models by the same company).

 

did it specifically sat catback ? sounds like it may be an axle back system

 

Let me know if that's a cat-back... I had a generic DTM styled dual tipped muffler and it's now making rattling sounds...it's annoying. I am thinking about going with WS or Greddy SP tho, heard they are quiet but still give a nice sound. I wouldn't suggest going non-brandname. It's a matter of quality and warranty I guess... at least go with some japaness company or good reputative ones...

 

do it right the first time, buy a quality product like tanabe, greddy, hks or thermal/dc sports.

 

I have the OBX muffler, for 110 on ebay a year ago.

I took it b/c i like the dual square tip and i didnt have any money for catback.

anyway, any muffler shouldnt give much power gain.
It's been ok now, except some of the layers inside the muffler may fall off and it sounds a little louder. but thats it...
i'm saving up for custom piping + high flow cat now

when i was a n00b to the car scene i saw how cheap and cool obx sh*t was on ebay and GBC but read countless posts how they suck and why they are so cheap, the only thing ive heard thats good from them are their cam gears or pullies i forgot which but one of those... but obx is a domestic company and is as generic as APC,focuz,hp,chikara and all the other sh*t companies.... $250.. hmmm for about another $135 you could get a brand new Apexi WS shipped. i got my Apexi WS used for $200... one of the quietiest and best sounding catback exhausts out there.

IF i had NO choice, but obx, id get one of their bomb mufflers w/ custom pipes and resonator. my friend has an obx or magnaflow muffler i cant remeber but its all yellow and brown n sh*t now...plus it sounds like azz... so u get watcha pay for.
