sound from right side of engine bay

sound from right side of engine bay
when i am in the car and say for example i am shifting at low speeds i hear a like a lil knocking sound that comes from the transmission side i have a 98 5speed sedan.. i dont know what probs it can be? its very hard to describe ... any one else have this prob?
