Default Add MP3 Changer to 2003 Accord

I have a 2003 Accord LX (no NAVI).

I would like to add a CD Changer to the existing Radio. Preferably an MP3 changer. It doesnt seem like there is too much that is compatible.

Can anyone give me an idea of what the options are?

Thanks in advance..

do u know what type of connections the stock head unit has? If it has something standard or even rca input than most anthing would work.

I think it is M-Bus. So far, I think only Alpine is compatible. They have an M-Bus changer.

Alpines Mbus changer is NOT the MP3 changer... that is the CHA-S635, which works on their Ai-Net system.

Autotoys.com has a 6 disc MP3 changer that will work with your stock head unit (also works with 98-02 accords and other newer honda/acura vehicles). I believe it sells for $330. It is an alpine based changer... so it uses Alpine magazines. The downfall of it is you wont have any song titles and you'll only be able to have 99 tracks per disc, as thats all the headunit will support.

JVC makes a universal MP3 changer, which has a seperate display that would have to be mounted somewhere. You then either use the FM modulator (which sounds like crap compared to a CD) or you can use an auxillary input adapter for you car (also available from autotoys.com) to get a much cleaner signal into the deck. This adapter plugs into the changer port on your deck and is enabled by selecting the CD Changer on the deck.

There are very few OEM headunits with AUX inputs... one that comes to mind is the deck in the older Mitsubishi Galant... or the Honda Element.

My new truck (Toyota Tundra T3) came with an internal 6-CD changer, but no MP3 capability. Because I didn't want to change out the stock unit I got a Sony D-NE518CK MP3/ATRAC3 player that has a cassette interface and remote control knob. With the ATRAC3 format I got 350 tunes onto one disk. It sounds OK.

Soundgate makes a Sony CD changer adapter that you can use instead for RCA inputs into AUX (SNHOND3). There should be several threads here if you do a search on "soundgate". I finally gave up on my fm transmitter I've been using to broadcast my mp3 player to the radio, and ordered an SNHOND3 this week, which arrived today. I plan on installing it tomorrow, and will let you know how it goes. I have a 2003 EX-L coupe, which I think has a slightly different radio than the LX, but I think the interface is good for all 2003 Honda Accords. It wasn't cheap, but hopefully it will do what I need it to.

You need to get a kit harness from crutchfield. To do that you need to uninstall the CD Storage bin. Your best bet instead of going through all that hassle is fork over the $300 or so and get the factory mp3 player through your dealer and have them install it.

I have the same problem with my Accord LX 2005. Unfortunately, it seems that there are only two options available to us. First is to buy SNHOND3 interface from Soundgate or HON/SNY ITI V.1 interface from BlitzSafe, then get a Sony CD changer (again it seems that the only one available with mp3 playback is CDX-T70MX which is not really sold widely in the States) and you should be all set. Second option, which I myself am loathe to explore is to replace your headunit with something else (like some decent Alpine model which is Ai-Net compatible) and then get Alpine CHA-S634 which should plug directly into that HU. That however means paying extra and secondly your controls will look not as nice as before...
