Default question about the f22b1 motor...

hi.
my car is a 97 accord lx, the engine code plate says f22b1,
shouldn't it be f22b2 instead? also, the valve cover is identical to
a friend's lx also, but the haynes manual says f22b1 is an ex
engine. is there a mix up or something?

thanks very much.

hrmm...it's possible you just got a f22b1 block somehow? That's very odd....perhaps a "quality control thing" *laughs*. I know the blocks are identical between them, so it's deffinately possible. However, it could also be that someone messed up the block before you got the car, so they swapped in a new bottom end - I doubt that a little more though.

F22B1 = VTEC also.
