Default Valentine-1 Radar Detector Install

I just got a V1 and wanted to know if anyone has done a stealth install of this in an accord? I travel through VA and DC a lot where radar detectors are illegal and wanted to know how some of you from that area install your V1 out of sight. I've searched the forum and noone has mentioned doing a stealth install yet.

I have my passport 8500 installed to the right of the rear view mirror and the wiring goes straight up to where the roof meets the windshield. It is really stealthy becasue when a cop pulls u over and is talking to u he can't see that high up from his angle. Just stand next to ur driver's side door and look at what u can see. Put the radar out of that field of view. Another good thing about that location is that it doesn't distract my driving. At first I had it over my dash in the middle of the windshield and i couldn't stand it there.

I have the exact same setup in my car with the Passport. It works well there.

I know that make expenisve kits for the V1 that let you put the "detector" part in the bumber and stuff and the display is in the car somewhere. as you can see, i dont know much about it, but i know something like it exsists.

How about some pics of the 8500 installs???

I've been thinking of getting the hard wire kit but...it'd be nice to see it installed.

You can see where the Passport in mounted in the video in my Sig. Its pouring here, so ill glab more photos later on on how it looks. I have this though:

The Mute button is right underneith the head unit, very close to my hand when shifting.

You should really get the hard wire kit for it. I would suggest going without the smart cord since there really isn't a need for it. I don't have a digi cam with me but the wire can go under ur roof liner and then down the pillar to ur fuse box. Unfortunately I couln't find a 12v wire in the fuse box that would tirn off with ignition so I just ran the wire underneath the glove box and ultimately to the cigarette lighter wires.

I dunno, i really like my Smartcord. But what ever floats you boat. I spliced power from the "Power Supply" (Cig Lighter) and grounded it behind the Headunit. Its fused with a 10 or 20 amp bus fuse, and Ive never had a problem with it.

Thx for the pic...

I don't ever use the mute on the cig adapter... so I guess I won't need the smartcord...

Cool golf ball shift knob BTW...

I'm trying to get some ideas of how to install it totally out of sight and not just somewhere high on the windshield. In VA, they're are reports that they have radar detector detectors and I believe they can confiscate your radar detector as evidence if found. Getting a ticket/fine for having a radar detector is bad enough but having it taken away is a double whammy so it's best to keep it out of sight. Hopefully I can install the detector in the 3rd brake light housing and use the remote display somewhere else on the dash. The V1 might just fit in there with a few mods but I think the Passport 8500's dimensions is too long. If anyone has done this, if so can you post some pics?
