Default [help] Is this bad?

a friend found an 87 accord for roughly $100 in trade. it needs some new oil gaskets, the manual transmission seems to leak alittle too, needs a tune-up badly, but runs strong, no smoke, good smooth transmission and decent clutch. tires should last for atleast a few months. but here's the problem...

the crossmember that the radius rods attatch to is loose. by loose, i mean the bolts are about halfway backed out, one is missing, and the remaining ones won't tighten up properly like they are stripped, or the holes in the frame are stripped. how bad is this? and how do you fix it if the holes are stripped?

also, the owner said something about how the car once had larger alloy wheels on it, and this is a common result? is this right?

thanks, in advance

get a tap and dye kit(sp) and re-thread the holes.

Agreed about the retapping if the threads in the body are stripped, but more than likely the bolts strip before the threaded hole.

Might want to check them first.
