If it hasn't been done, then do it. Everything's already off and the water pump is right there, so you might as well do it, unless you feel you can do it later. I heard the tensioner is good to replace since it's cheap.

If your belt snapped during operation shouldn't you be looking for engine damage? How "non-interference" are G2 engines?
