I bought my 96 Accord last year with 47,000 miles and now have 87,000 (highway) miles. All I've done so far is flush and refill trans fluid, flush/refill coolant, new air filter, new spark plugs, and switched from dino oil to Valvoline Synthetic at 60,000 miles. That is the only maintenance I have done thus far, and the car performs like a dream and has been very reliable. In about another 3-4,000 miles I am having the timing belt and water pump replaced as well as the accesory belts. My hoses are in perfect condition, and the engine has no leaks whatsoever (or any residue around seals) So I see no reason in having them replaced. Spark plug wires should be good for the life of the car, my 91 LX still had the original wires at 275,000 miles. That's about it. I still have the original brakes and fluid, original muffler, and the original battery was just replaced last week.
