I think the biggest thing we have going for us is the fact we know and understand what led to the fall of the Romans, Greeks and even the British Empire. What we also have going for us is the fact 1/3 ofthe worlds GDP comes from the US...and that is not something the rest of the world can afford to loose. What scares me though, and you mentioned it in your first post, is nuclear weapons. During the Cold War neither Russia nor America used them because they both knew the consequences and feared total anihalation. But what about uncivilized Arab/Muslim/young Middle Eastern men or whatever you want to classify them as who get ahold of a nuclear weapon or weapons? These people already love to die and love to kill innocent civilians. Do you think they would hesitate once to use one?
