I'm not saying Bush did wrong. All I was saying is that the US has opened itself up to having to be the world's Mommy by getting involved in the first place. It's put itself in a position where it can't back down now but also it catches all the flak for doing exactly what the rest of the world expects it to. It's a thankless drudge of a job and it makes it no better for all the foot soldiers out there putting their life on the line for what they believe in to listen to you whiney yellow-bellied spineless worms sit around with all the time in the world to criticize.
But now that you mention it, Alexander attempted to conquer the world and the US wasn't there to stop him. So did Ghengis Kahn. And the Roman Empire. I think it's turned out ok. We are not the be all end all of history. We're just a page in some kids book a hundred years from now.
