I was just mowing the lawn. I have a honda mower with 5 hp.
Anywhoo, for the first time in 10 years, it occurred to me: My mower doesn't have a battery (or does it?).

So how does my yanking on the starter create the spark for the plug and where does the rest of the sparks come from to keep the motor running? Please compare and contrast to a car's ignition system.
