Hi,
This is my first post... and I'm super happy I found this place!
I've got a 96 Honda Civic LX with the standard 1.6 4 -- auto trans, sedan.
This is a beater car to use around town, with two kids in college I've got NO cash!

So here's my question.
The exhaust system broke just infront of the resonator (intermediate pipe). I'm wondering what exactly the resonator does. And what could be harmed by removing it with a simple piece of exhaust pipe and two clampdown joints?
The intermediate pipe with clamps, and gaskets, etc is about $130... the pipe and clamps, since I already have the clamps... and just need a piece of straight pipe... would cost about $20.00.
Any help sure would be a big help!
Thanks,
Pete
