Civic Intake...
What's your opinion on the Comptech Ice Box intake vs. the AEM CAI? Is sucking water into your engine a valid concern with the AEM CAI? Does the bypass valve help at all? Specifically this is for a 2000 Civic EX. Thanks for your input!

I ran into this question myself on my 00 si. When I did compare I think that comptech came out like 1 hp ahead or something like that. It was almost twice the price of the aem cai. I bought the aem cai and I have no regrets. BTW, I think comptech is the shit though, it just wasn't cost effective to me for the extra 1hp.

oh I forgot, YES sucking water will **** your engine up. I personally don't drive through puddles or drive my si in rain so I didn't buy the bypass valve. I think it's ugly. It works just fine if you were to drive into a fat enough puddle. I guess they come two piece now anyways, mine is a one piece and I didn't feel like cutting it to add the bypass. So if you plan on this car being a daily driver buy the bypass, if not don't or just save the stock airbox and change it back for the winter.

im happy with my AEM CAI.... no bypass valve here i just avoid the puddle and rainy weather all together. But wen i have to drive in the rain everything runs fine i just drive a little slower and NO PUDDLES

I've had the AEM CAI w/ no bypass valveon my 98 EX for a year and a half and no problems, and I live in New Hampshire. I'm somewhat carefulll of puddles but ive had no problems, even kept in on thru the winter.
By the way I jsut cleaned my filter on my CAI, makes a big difference. I was noticing my milelage drop from 33 or 32 mpg to 28 so i cleaned it. Just drove it around my neighborhood and could tell a difference, not bogging down as much.

I forgot to mention, yes this is for a daily driver. I think I'd enjoy the small boost in power - and the sound! Living in Ohio means that rain is always around the corner, and sometimes there are no ways to avoid rain/puddles - with the exception of not driving at all. Thanks everyone! If you even just give me general suggestions/opinions I would appreciate that too!
