Default Lowering a civic

Mine's a 2000 ex is there anyway to do it yourself? I heard you could rent a hyrdrolic compressor and compress the new spring or something , but I also heard you could jack the up the car and let the whole suspension fall out, and then put it back together piece by piece with the new lowering spring in place and then pop it right in there(2 days work ). I've searched the web and the board, but can't find anything. I'm not a skilled mechanic. Help please.

well. if you're not skilled with tools, then i wouldnt reccomend doing it yourself. u could possibly hurt yourself or others if u install the springs incorrectly.

i lowered my first car when i was 16, but im really good at following directions and service manuals. its not terribly difficult, and very doable if you know how to use tools. btw, u can rent a spring compressor (non-hydrolic from kragen, etc) you will need a set of tools to do it too.

search for it in the DIY forum. There is one in there on an accord. You will use the same type of procedure.

For this you will need a spring compressor (free to rent from auto-zone)
Jack & Jack stands,
basic tools

Definately do it yourself. I learned a lot when I did this on my car.
