Default Strut Bar?

'Hey again - its the newbie who knows nothing. :dunno:
I was wondering, I am almost done getting a 92 Civic Hatchback with a 97 D16 SOHC VTec Swap - My question is what are some good makers of exhaust and cool air intakes? I'm reading up on some just wanted to see what type of products you guys put in your own cars...Also, how would be the best way to lower it? I heard there are a few methods of lowering it....

intakes - aem, injen, comptech

exhaust - apexi, greddy, dc

if all you want is to lower it, just get springs and shocks. if you want some adjustibility, coilovers.

For both intake and exhaust, the first ones he listed are the ones I have/will have.

Iceman makes a pretty nice intake too Most strut bars on the market will provide equal perfomance and coilovers would be the best method to lower your car if your not sure how much you want to lower it in the first place. If you do a good aftermarket strut/spring combo with do the trick!

AEM or INJEN for cold air intakes. I personally would go with INJEN.

RS*R, APEX, GREDDY for exhausts. I personally would go with RS*R

TEIN, Eibach, Neuspeed, H/R for springs. I personally would go with Neuspeed or H/R

Ground Control if you want adjustable springs

TEIN or JIC if you want full coilovers.

The answer to the first question is you can lower your car on the stock struts but they will probably blow and leak, You should get some good struts when you lower it. The second question is you should probably buy the one for the motor and you might have to mod it a little to make it fit in the hatch.

Just do your research, take your time, and be patient.

Do it right, and do it 100% (no half assing) the first time, so you wont waste any money down the line, nor have any regrets.

Sounds like BS to me. Maybe if you dropped it less than an inch. You're changing the the ride height and shortening the strut piston travel, after market struts are designed to give more support than a stock strut at a lower height/shorter piston travel. I hope this makes sense.

You should be able to use a CAI, I'd say to get the one to fit the 97, if I'm not mistaken the throttle body on the 97 goes up and down, where as the 92-95 is sideways.
If it's a 2 piece design, the throttle body piece should be a 97, and if the bottom piece doesn't fit maybe the 92-95 bottom piece will work.

My suggestions as far as parts go...

CAI, AEM - AEM V2, Iceman

Coils, Skunk2 or Ground Control

Struts, Tokiko or KYB

Front upper strut bar, Nuespeed (one piece design = less flex)

Camber and bushing kit. Any brand. The camber kit is a must, getting the bushing kit now will save you some headaches, unless someone else is doing your work for you.
