Default Widest rims on EG?

What are the widest possible rims for an EG before rubbing on fenders and 1/4 panels? 7"?

You could go as wide as 7.5" but you'd need at least +42mm offset. But I think 7" wide is more reasonable as you wouldn't need to mod your fenders to clear it.

I'm not doing this for the look like those lowrider people do with those skinny ass wheels that stick out 2ft outside the fender. Mainly doing it for more traction. More surface area for the tire to grip on. Guess 7" will do...

You don't necessarily need a 7" wide wheel to get the widest possible tire. You could get away with a 6.5" wide wheel and stilll use a 205 sized tire. Using a 215 size tire is possible (this is associated with a 7.5" wide wheel) but rubbing is common no matter what. Even if you remove all the fender liner inside.

I was just talking about this with a friend of mine. Can I run 215s on 16s with a 45mm offset?

16x7? It's possible, but you might get that weird hourglass figure on your tires. Of course this would depend on which tire you get. But your speedo would definitely be off. But I don't think that you're really gonna be concerned about that, are you Josh.

Yes 7".

Tire width doesn't effect the speedo. Wheel diameter effects the speedo - at least, that's what makes sense to me. :dunno:

Not so concerned cause the drag strip figures my trap for me :wiggle:

Well I was actually thinking on 15" wheel. 15x7 with a 215. Butn if I can fit a 215 on a 15x6.5 then so be it. What you think?
