Default Engine Swaping Estimates

Ok...i know you all are probably getting tired of hearing about my 94 Civic CX H/B. But i will continue until i get an engine in it. I found a D16Z6 that i would like to put in it. I want a *complete* list of things i would have to change over to make this engine take the place of the old D15B8 that currently occupies the car. For those of you that aren't familiar with the engine codes, if you can't read the code, you probably can't answer the question.

well man you could do alot of different things to make it work. if you want it like the engine was in there stock you need.

engine, tranny, shift linkage, axles, ecu, pretty much everything under the hood. there's pieces of your car you can still use though to save on costs.

I suggest you do a search or post this in the hybrid forum. there's no point in writing the same thing over and over just in different threads.

you don't need the shift linkage. As long as your car is a 5spd, you're fine. All D series trannies will use the same shift linkage in a given car. The axles may be the same, so check with the auto parts store before running out and buying them. You will for sure need the ecu and wiring for vtec. Other than that, the mounts will all be the same, you can use your tranny if you want, but it's not recommended (gearing sucks). It's a really straight forward swap. If there is anything missing from the new engine, you may be able to swap parts over, but some may be different. Give us a shopping list of what's missing and someone can tell you what should swap over.

All you'll need is the longblock, driver's side mount, and an ecu.

It's a really easy swap if you the whole changeover. But if you get a longblock make sure it comes with the manifolds (some peoples idea of a longblock is different). you will need the wiring harness and ECU as well. Other than that it's easy as pie. also don't forget the spring pin ($3-4) and clamp($1-2) for the shift linkage, the O rings for the exhaust manifold ($10.00) and cat ($18.00). A valve cover gasket ($6-7), timing belt ($30.00), water pump ($45.00), exhaust manifold gasket ($15.00), and check the clutch on the new motor too because it's a lot easier to change when the motor is out. How many miles are on the D16Z6? I would also get a new oil seal for the distributor if you are going to take it off before lowering the motor in (you can leave it in but if you damage it when putting the negine in you'll be sorry because it's expensive-$300.00). And you might want to check your motor mounts because if they are shot you will need new ones (about $200.00 for all of them). And yes the drivers side mount is different, you will need the mount off of the D16Z6 (both the part that bolts to the block and the mount that bolts to frame of the car) I will let you know if I think of anything else.

the D16Z6 is what i want, i found one with 70k on it, but i ain't going to get it cause it's across the US, and it's off ebay. If anyone knows a place i could get an engine and have it installed for 1,500 or less please reply. I live in chester county, PA, and i would preferably like it to be within like an hour of my home. Thanks for all your reply's!
