When i hook up the battery the car turns on by itself, like the fuel pump and interior, when i actually start it, the engine won't stop i have to unplug the ecu for it to quit runing(kinda scary when you take your key out and your car is still running:eek3: ). The cd player works ok though(besides it doesn't play cds)when i put my car in the on position is the cd player turns on like its supposed to be. I don't get it. I've checked my ignition switch and it's fine so i can rule that out.

I would recheck that ignition switch. That sounds like the logical problem. Either that, or you have a short somewhere. The only other thing I can think of is when you shut your car off, you ground the coil, if that ground is bad, it may do that. You would have to get your hands on a wiring schematic to search it out though.

 

I think i'm running off the back up system, cuz i pulled the back up fuse from the u/h fuse box, and nothing happened when i hooked the battery up. Also i'm not get power to the u/d fuse#18(ecm, pgm-fi main relay).

where is the coil located?
