Default **Will an Accord 5th gen tape deck plug into a 93 Civic OEM harness?**

Hey all,

As u can see from the title, i'm trying to plug an Accord 5th gen tape deck into a 93 Civic OEM harness. Will this "plug" right in and work fine? Or are modifcations needed? Currently i have a pioneer deck in there thats busted, and since i dont drive the car, i'mjust gonna throw a used tape deck in there. I havent bought it yet from the guy, but if i know it'll fit, i'll buy it.

Just to let you know, there already is a harness that converts oem harness to the small black "fitting" that sticks in the back of the pioneer deck. Ther also is a black wire, i think its power? That goes into the deck as well. Will that also plug into the oem deck from the accord?

Please post asap, THANK YOU!

Dave

edit: i posted this same one in the "audio & electronics" forum but got no response..seems very "empty" there..not alot of activity. So i decided to post here as well. If a mod wants to delete this, go ahead..dont move it though!

Thanks!

Dave

You need the honda 99-02 reverse harness to fit into the sterio from your accord. You can pick it up at any Best-Buy for $16.99. Then you need to wire it into your civic with a 93 civic harnes which I believe you already have. Just match the wires by color. Oh, and that black wire you talked about is ground (-). Let me know if you have more q's. I work at Best-Buy, car audio.

Actually, I'll bet the black wire is the antenna.

ok..is the black wire thats seperate from all others the ground or antenna? I've heard both.

No..i'm not taking this from my 00 accord, i'm getting it from a 5th gen accord whcih i dont own(buying it used from a member here).

So i was told that it would plug right in.

Oh, yeah if it's around the same year/style as your civic, then yeah- The factory reverse harness (coming out of your civic) will plug right in. If your talking about a thick round black wire with a metal plug on the end, then thats the antanna. I thought you were talking about the little black one running in the wiring harness.

ok...someone please straighten me out here. I need a reverse harness? But someone said 98-02 rev. harness...the tape deck is coming off of a 94-97 accord. So wont i need that one?

Second...what does a reverse harness do? This 94-97 acord rev harness has the "accord" male end on one end and the civic 93 male on the other? Do i look for a "94-97 accord/93 civic rev. harness"? I'm kinda confused here, please someone help :-) Thanx!

yes..i'm a noob to car audio!

You only need a reverse harness if your switching between 2 different years/body styles. I don't think you need one if its a 5th gen accord deck going into a 92-95 civic because honda only made one harness for 94 thats the same in accords and civics. So you shouldn't need one. (unless you were ghetto cut the factory harness off when installing that pioneer.)

i put a 95 accord headunit into my 92 hatch. plugged right up.

i'm positive it'll work. buy the headunit and try to see if the civic harnass will plug in. and if it doesn't go buy the harnass you need. if it does. even better.

it doesn't bolt down the same as the civic headunit, but you can mount it pretty easy.
