Default Fuel pressure regulator?

OK I think my problems all go back to me running rich. I've been talking with some good mechanics and they said all my symptons have one common thing. They can all be caused by running to rich. Therefore, I need a regulator to turn down my fuel pressure. I know there are only a few that will do this, most just go up? What are they and where should I get it from.. price would be helpful too

yes.. B&M vortech.. they are all the same.. but they are hard adjustments.. as in if you are CONSTANTLY running rich then it would be a good choice.. if you are fin at some pms but lets say rich at idle and partial throttle you should invest in something more..like a vafc.. you can adjust the fuel + or - 50% per 500 rpms.. and i USED to have a fuel pressure gauge under the hood.. it sucked.. becuase you could not see ti during driving conditions.. but that alone will not help you.. you are haveing a tuning issue.. from what you say.. the pressure gauge alone will not solve the issue.. id invest on an in car fuel pressure gauge.. like the one i have (autometer mechanical pressure gauge and an isolator) and an egt... then you really can tel if you are trully running rich..

It was to my understanding that the B&M one only raises pressure.

my vortech one (which im pretty sure is a rebadged B&M one) modifys the stock one and CAN bring lower than stock fuel pressure.. granted i dont know HOW low.. i know it CAN go slightly lower..

but back to what i said ealier.. just blindly lowering the fuel pressure IMHO is not the best answer

Ok so what exactly should I get? I like the idea of being able to adjust the pressure from inside the car. How much and who makes it/sells it?

why dont u get a fuel pressure guage first, before u buy a fpr so u can tell if its a fuel pressure prob

go to summit and order the b&m cammand flow fpr, and the b&m fuel pressure guage. then you are set and you can adjust you pressure to whatever you want.

You can't adjust it to whatever you want, there are limits. I run the b&m gauge/modifier and it works ok. I'm not really understanding how the gauge reads the pressure cause it sits on top of the fuel filter. Wouldn't that read how much pressure your fuel pump is pushing out? It may be a simple answer, but it doesn't register with me.

Anyway, yes, the B&M will allow you to lower/raise your pressure as you need. At a stock, non boosted B18C, it will give you the adjustment you will need.

Do you happen to have an Air/Fuel gauge? If not, it's a good way to see what you're running and know what type of adjustments need to be made.

A VAFC is not the answer for you. It's pretty useless when running stock injectors and a pretty stock motor.

What problem are you having anyway?
