Synthetic worth it?

I always thought that too, but if you're car has cooled down enough, all the oil will be in the pan and since the oil pump isn't running, it can't get to the filter. I assume a little will be left in the filter, but not much.

Yep if you wait about 3-4 hours after running your car the oil should all go back to the oil pan except for like .2 quarts.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but don't switch to synthetic on OLDER motors with high mileage.

I heard higher mileage with older motors can cause leaks if you go to synthetic...

Mine has 116k and it's 1995. Think it'll be ok?

yup i heard it leaks through the seals more on older cars.

Yes, that's exactly the problem.

I'd say just leave it with whichever oil you were using already.

I actually had a 1988 CRX Si with 100K miles on it and switched to synthetic and had no problems.

Also when you switch to synthetics your car should get better mpg and run a tad cooler.
