Default signs of a bad fuel pump? :oh:

while i was driving today, my car bogged out at around 45 mph....normal driving.

i really couldnt hear that well, since i was pulled off on the side of the road, i couldnt tell if the pump was turning on..i waited a few minutes, and i mess around with my ghetto wiring job off the kill switch and it turned on...could it be that or is it going bad?

It could also be a bad fuel filter. If they get pluged they will limit the speed of the car just like that.

I guess I'm confused. I thought you said your car would only go 45. If the pump won't run, then your car won't run. Did you check the fuse?

I couldn't even wager to guess what it might be then. Sometimes if the fuel system is still under pressure, the pump won't cycle on when you turn the ignition on. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes and try it. You may have to check fuel pressure to rule that out if that's what you think it might be. Check the basic things first(cap, rotor, plug wires, fuel filter.) Those are often the most overlooked things and they can cause big problems. A buddy of mine has an Eclipse GS-T and got no power out of it. He was ready to tear down his engine, but it turned out one of his plug wires had a pin hole in it and was leaking spark. Damn, he still owes me a steak dinner.

Good luck.

after checking the things that hondaman said, try hitting a steep hill, see if you can climb it, if it bogs still check your intake and exhaust for obstructions also b4 ripping the pump and filter out.
when my pump died it slowly stopped one day, it hung when going up a hill, then i couldnt go any faster than 40 day. And the next day i could barely move 20, ended replacing the whole gas tank b/c it rusted out clogged my filter and then burned out my pump.

well, it's probably too late now if your stock one died. the 255 inline is just a supplemental. Find yourself a stock D16Z or Y intank, throw it in then put your 255lph inline in.

I've been telling you since i sold you my damn fmu setup to install the pump but you never listen.
