ls/v-tec swap
Hello, just signed up. I am in the market to buy and install some type of engine swap into my 94 civic ex. I have looked into alot of motors and can't make up my mind. I don't need anything extreme because its mainly a show car but, want to concetrate on doing something unique. I would like to do the ls/v-tec motor with auto tranny but have some questions. I was reading on another site that when building this motor you should take all the stock jdm b16a2 internals and put them into the ls block, since the ls block isn't made for high reving. With a stock jdm b16a2 I'm looking at 160hp,with the b16a2 head on an ls block I'm looking at 190hp. I can't see taking an ls block apart, building with v-tec engine internals for just 30 more hp. wouldn't it be wiser to just take the b16a2 motor do some port/polish work to the intake and head, then add some aftermarket bolt-ons to give me that 190hp? let me know what you guys think?? has anyone else done an ls/v-tec with auto tranny?? also,I'm trying to stay with all motor because the auto tranny/turbo combo doesn't seem to lke each other, plus,it would be less problems
first of all, its vtec. second, an ls/vtec auto kinda takes the fun outta driving it. b16 internals in an ls block, dont think that would work and would defeat the purpose of using the ls for its longer stroke.
I guess this info. in this link is just all bullshit, huh? Have you ever built an ls/vtec or hell, any motor??

the only difference with an auto is you can't shift when you want to like a 5-speed. but,it still rolls,Like i said I don't need nothing extreme.

i would consider ls/vtec extreme because of the amount of money and time it takes to do it right. you can't throw an ls/vtec engine together and expect it be reliable. if you want not too extreme, just go with a b18c1, with goodies.
There is an article regarding this swap in the April 2003 issue of Honda Tuning magazine. Most of the parts and info came from Hasport. You can reach them at 602-470-0065, or at www.hasport.com
Good luck.

Good luck.

i believe it would be a complete waste of time to spend the amount of time and money into such a project, then have it as an automatic.
it's like saying you're going to buy some nice Infinity speakers in your car and power them with a two knob radio. IT'S POINTLESS to have something with that much potential be held back!!!
plus, if you want something that requires less maintenance, cheaper, and more available, i'd swap over a GSR motor if i were you. i was about to build a LS/Vtec motor, until i summed up how much it was going to cost to get all the parts. not worth it..
