Default what engine fits??

im needin to get a new engine soon to fit a 92 CIVIC lx sedan...
what would be the best engine to put in the will mount right in? also, its for an automatic tranny..
list what engines will cost around 2000$ and less and list how much stock HP they come...

$2000 and less, the only thing worth getting would be a b16a. you could get some d16's, but that'd be kind of pointless.

you don't have to. i know a guy that could get me a b16a with auto for 1500, but it would be pretty pointless, i agree.

no, im not into racing.. its just this POS 100 hp isnt enough to make it up hills...well barely.. i just want something w/ a lil.. more power...

throw in a d16z6 ($500 or so) and put a GReddy turbo 5.5psi ($1500)

It'd get you around just fine.

Most cost effective is to convert the transmission while you are at it. You are very limited if you choose to remain automatic.

B16 automatics are rare to come by as well.

I don't think they are that uncommon... nobody wants them. The problem is they supposedly came only in OBD-0 (pre-92) cars, mostly (if not only) the 89-92 Integra XSi. I have never heard of an OBD-1 B16A Automatic ECU.
