Default Do all 1996 Civic EX have SOHC VTEC?

I'm <hopefully> buying a '96 Civic EX tomorrow, 5-speed, 60k miles, 2-door. I was just wondering if they all had the D16Z7 127 bhp @ 6600 engines.

Thanks

my setup, is exactly the same as yours, treat your car well, and you'll be amazed at how versatile it is

and don't let anybody talk down to you about your D16Y8, blonde roots are the best

Actually i have a 97 civic EX and it doesn't have VTEC. Engine is a d16y7. I've been told that canadian civic EX all come that way, hence one of the reasons i'll be going for a swap ASAP

I thought the EX here in canada was a 4 door sohc vtec D16Y8.
I know for sure that the Si is the 2 door sohc vtec D16Y8 (equivalent to US EX)
And the SIR is the DOHC VTEC B16A2/A3 (equivalent to US SI)
