Default is this possible....

i know this post probably belongs in the exterior forum but this forum gets more traffic.

my cars a black 97 civic, it has a lot of swirls and i was wondering if it's possible to have it sent into a autobody shop to get sanded down and get new clearcoat over it to get rid of the swirls?

would this be much cheaper then getting a full paintjob?

i know ur probably thinking ill just swirl it up again. but i bought this car used and it was swirled a lot... i have experience with detailing cars and i know NEVER to use a circular motion when washing a car. sooooo it shouldn't swirl up on me like it did for the guy who washed my car with a brillo pad

I wet-sanded my hood with 1600 grit and it swirled the F*** out of it.

Now I have to repaint it.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I wanted paint to be the last thing I ever spend money on with this car.

I'd recommend trying Meguiars Swirl Remover and a random orbit buffer.

Chances are you'll get most of it out after a couple tries.
