Default Headunit Install Help on 98 Civic "Pic"

I want to keep my keyless feature so I purchased a "T connector" from Circuit City. I know that the two clips plug into the wires from the car and the other to the stock head unit. I have no idea what the funtion for the other clip as I thought that I need to splice the wires to the new headunit's harness. Can I just remove the third clip and splice them to my new head unit or am I miss understanding something?

Im a novice at car audio so any responce would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That 3rd clip is what they call a smart connector. Circuit colaborated with metra to have those harnesses made solely for them. I uesed to work in the Roadshop until the big layoff they had back in Feb. so that's how I know. The other half of that "smart harness" has the aftermarket radio plug on it. It's about another $15 but it saves time soldering wires. IMO cut the smart connector and solder the wires to your radio's harness. If you have anymore ?'s PM me.

Yeah you can go buy the other half of the smart harness for your particular brand of radio. $15 MSRP. If you know somebody who works there, its only $2-3

ahhhh...just solder the harness like i used to do. it makes better connections anyways. I never did trust the smartharnesses. But then again, I started at circuit well before they ever used those.
