Default 99 Civic Ex Greddy Turbo Kit Question

I have a '99 Civic Ex and I am planning on buying a Greddy Turbo for it. One question I have is if I buy a Turbo will I have to do anything to the engine for it to accept the turbo? if so what do I have to do? Another question is what is the safest psi level you can run on a Civic Ex Engine? What would I have to do to run more psi?

I was wondering if anyone knows if this is all I need to complete a Turbo minus the turbo and intercooler:

OBD I ecu...P28 or P72 ...they are mostly on 92-95 civic ex/si
OBD II to OBD I Wiring harness
Fuel injectors, 440 cc or bigger with clips
Fuel pump
FMU
Hondata unit
Boost controller
Turbo timer

If anybody has any of this stuff for sale email me at dawrenn@hotmail.com I would like everything to be new except the OBD1 ecu

Default greddy turbo

Depending on how hard you drive it...you'll need a new engine after a little while. New oil lines, oil cooler/intercooler, new high flow fuel pump, hi volume fuel rail, good exhaust system, 4-2-1 header (best). I'm sure the lines will come with the kit. I believe that the greddy's are some of the cheaper kits, so I'm not really sure what to expect with it. You'll have some fun though.

You cant have a Header when you have a Turbo. Doesn't the turbo replace that?

No, has to work with the exhaust manifold. I'm no expert on turbos, that's just the stuff I know. I'm a supercharger man myself, have you investigated a supercharger? Direct bolt on instant power....

i would run up to 10 psi on a stock d16y8, as long as its properly tuned.

the greddy kit comes with everything u need minus a Blow off valve and intercooler. people have run the blue box (stock greddy kit FMU) to about 11 psi (i run 8 psi with my blue box)

but if you want to boost higher, you should invest in the hondata for FI engines.
your list of parts would be great

but to even boost higher, you'd need better pistons, rods, and prolly have the block sleeved.

but remember you will have to get it tuned when running any fmu, except the blue box which was meant for that turbo kit

No I have not invested in a supercharger. I would rather have a Turbo.

I don't understand this: No, has to work with the exhaust manifold

I am not going to run that much boost where I have to buy better pistons and rods and have the block sleeved. If I get the Hondata how much boost can I run? the Blue box comes with the Greddy turbo kit right?

the greddy kit will come with a turbo manifold. you do not need a header. :eh: and dont use the p72 ecu.

You need to investigate both turbos and superchargers before you make a purchase. this link will get you started.
