Default Dilemma - Should i wait?

Ok, I just found out that because I ****ed up and got a speeding ticket, I have to wait till i'm 18 to do my swap...

So my dilemma is:

i was planning ona b18c1 swap w/ a turbo set-up eventually...

right now i have a stock 98 dx SOHC non-vtec

I really dont feel like waiting 14 months to do shit to my car....

-Should I try and build up my SOHC as much as possible?
-Should I wait till im 18 to do the swap and only do cosmetic/suspension stuff in the meantime?
-Should I say **** it and not do anything?

btw, i realize an SOHC doesn't have a lot of potential, but I think it would be fun to build it up...

If i do build up the SOHC non-vtec...what could i do to get the most power out of it?

It depends on the D16. You have a DX, I'd say no. Don't do anything to it. Don't bother buying an engine and parts for when you turn 18, anything could wind up happening to your car or your license, so doing that could turn out to be a waste of money; and modifying your car will only reduce it's value if for some reason you decide to sell it and start with a different chassis. Take care of your legal stuff and finish school first. If you stockpile anything for it, it should be money.

hmm... well.. i think what i'd do is buy the motor now, and build it up while its outside the car.. then when you turn 18 just drop it in.. i think that's what i'd do.. so when you're ready, its ready too.

edit: this is brad, RiceBurninVTEC.. i just realized my sister was logged in. oh well, im to tired to go back and re do it. h:

That's a good idea, I never thought of that...

How hard would it be to build it up for someone with minimal engine experience? I know it's easier outside the car, but I've never really taken an engine apart and messed with it.

I do understand how an engine works, and pretty much what ALL the parts do...
