i think that farting noise is just the cat. changing the way the exhaust sounds. my friend got a 2.5" header, 2.5" cat, and 2.5" exhaust piping all the way through it sounds really metallic, and similar to what you are describing.

I think it's just the cat, plus the diameter change within' the cat would be doing it also.

wouldn't worry about it, unless it's a scraping sounds or the exhaust starts hitting something.

I have a High Flow Converter on my car, I was wondering if anyone knows if the car will pass The Emissions Test? I live in Arlington, VA if that makes any difference. The reason I am asking is that my friend was riding behind me on his bike when I was driving down the street and he said he could smell something that smelled like gas. When I got home he said "I do not think that your car will pass Emissions" Is that true? If so I have no problem with it b/c I will just place the stock one on when I go to get it tested.

On my 00 dx, there is a metallic noise like something is hitting that takes place about 8 times a second, and only happens when moving slowly or fast accelaration. I took the front tire off and my friend got under, he doesn't think its the shielding around the cat, but the cat itself has loose material inside. The shielding is above the cat inbetween it and the underside of the car, not underneath it. What can I do about this, should I try to cut away some of the shielding anyway or could it cause problems?

yay i gutted my cat on my 00 si cuz it was clogged and caused me to fail emission test so i gutted it and i passed emissions and have no CEL...the dude at the inspection place even told me after i did it that you could do that and most times it would not throw a CEL...i thought it would but that was more the 6 weeks or more and still no CEL...though i have noticed a slight decrease in MPG and when i stomp the throttle the gauge goes down quite aways but then comes back up...haha

Make your own thread if you have a question rather than bringing back ancient shit.
