First if a car has after market cams will I increase the red line (in a Toyota)… Second, I know a kid that bought a car and the guy who he bought it off of says that it has aftermarket cams, how do you find out, even if I took off the valve cover how would I know?

 

some aftermarket cams require a higher redline. cams themselves do not change the redline. you need a chipped ecu for that.

 

if that kid has "cams," one easy way to tell he's full of shit is to point out he drives a SOHC.
