Default Adding a Turbo to a Civic EX...what preps do i need?

I have a 99 Civic EX....the 1.6 L with 127 HP and 107 ft-lbs torque. I'm considering a Turbo...but i'm trying to learn what i would need to prep the engine so it would be able to take the extra pressure.

Is there anybody who has put a turbo on the EX (greddy turbo or whatever)...and what did u need to do?

thanks

I'm about done with the Drag 3 kit install on my 98 EX. As long as you run low boost, which is how all of the kits come you will be fine with a decent fuel managment setup. The drag kit is really nice, but not much of a kit, more of a cobled together bunch of parts. If your into working on your car and prepared to do some custom work go for it, otherwise, get a better kit (ie: Greddy, Apexi, Edlebrock).

i have the greddy kit,
don't forget to get a boost guage
get an AC AUTOTECHNIC oil plate from www.autodynamic.com
Which you mount your oil sending line to it, and its much safer than using a T off the block

Do you plan to upgrade the internals or just run on stock ones? There's a million things you could do, but it all depends on your goals. You should prolly get a VAFC with some 440cc injectors (that's what SleeperCivicEX runs).

As for the DRAG turbo comment: the drag kit is capable of putting out much more HP than the "bolt-on" kits on the right application. The DRAG kit reallly isn't be best choice for an unbuilt Dseries motor. The DRAG kit is much more geared to the more "serious" (if you will) applications (like mine). It may be a mix-and-match of parts, but the parts consist of much better ones than you will find in the Greddy kit.

I don't recommend the DRAG kit for the Dseries, unbuilt motors. Go with a Greddy or Apexi kit.

Drag sucks. :fawk: Nah, but I have heard the manifolds are prone to cracking.

A guy I know got one for his '99 EX and it's too much for the motor. Now that you mention it, I don't remember him being happy with a lot of the parts. I know the wastegate is crap, but it does come with a HKS SS BOV and good piping, but other than that...
