Default Nitrous on a d16y7?

should i run nitrous on my SOHC non vtec motor before i swap it? im thinkin bout getting just a cheap kit like around $400 and running moderate sized shots of nitrous on it... well the motor is 106 hp stock so with the nitrous can i run with b16s? what u guys think?

you should just save that money until you get a swap, then you can use that 400 for other mods.

Same motor as you. I was running 55 out of fear for the last two months. I switched to the 65 jets right before it got flooded. It's been garaged ever since but the motor was fine with the bigger shot. No oddities with the plugs... #4 runs a little leaner than the other 3 but it was like that before the nitrous. No knocks, nothing.

i think that it goes without saying but.. don't do this... unless its a wet kit.. and even then you are on dangerous ground..

the two fuel items mentioned will do little to nothing on a dry kit.. due to the uneven nitrous distribution

I haven't built my d16y7 for nitrous. The motor is pretty close to stock aside from the basic bolt-on crap. Just keep your motor tuned and stuff. I think the biggest killer of motors, with or without nitrous, is not maintaining the motor. Check your stuff after heavy usage. And if you do happen to break parts, I've got a y7 with a 100k on it coming out in a week or so.

edit - It's not purely safe because it's not idiot-proof. For instance, you could always spray at idle or something dumb but I know you won't do that... I would hope NO ONE would do that. LOL. At $25-35 a bottle refill (10 lb bottle), you'll be sparing with the n2o. Nitrous will not get you to and from the grocery store quicker.

The only way to spray at idle is if you actually had it hooked up to a button instead of the throttle.

If I was you, then I'd just get diff. spark plugs then spray.
