Ok, so my car was REALLY rattling and squeaking today. I just knew it was the heat shield from the cat. I got home, let the car cool down, then got underneath to find that 3 of the 4 mounting holes on the shield rusted through. I thought I would take off the 4 bolt. Took out my socket set and had to use the adapter to fit the small bolt. I am guessing the bolt was rusted frozen cause I torqued it a bit much and broke the adapter! Oh well , live and learn. I got frustrated and ripped the thing off. Do you think I should bother replacing it? I'm not sure it is worth it even more so cause all 4 bolts are frozen. Well, in the end, car is nice and quiet, for now, til I get my exhaust etc etc etc.........

 

I've run without that cover for years... you're ok!
