i always forget about this, but about 4 years ago i was hooking up a switch for some city lights and hooked it up to the wrong wire and it fired the wire, but i'm not sure which wire it fried. smoke actually came out of my dash though. and now my guages and climate controls don't light up (the automatic gear indicator thing either). i don't think it'd be a fuse because it wouldn't have smoked like that. have any idea what wire it could have been (i think i hooked the switch up the light for the gear indicator)? i've never found a burnt wire behind the dash (but i haven't pulled the dash apart yet).
I had the exact same problem and I still cant get my damn dash lights or my climate control to light up...I tore my dash apart and I still cant find a fried out wire. so I guess if you can think of anything or you figure it out please let me know as well...
I wired my cd player in my car and accidentally, the dimmer and illumination wires crossed, and it caused smoke behind my dash and didn’t blow a fuse, but my lights inside didn’t work...........it was my dimmer switch it melted the inside of it once I switched it the lights worked fine.
