You gotta tried shaved tires 
I got my Falken Azenis from my sponsor and had them shaved last week. Mounted them on my competition rims and headed out to the autocross today (Sunday).
WOW! Talk about LOTS of cornering power compared to my frsh set of Azenis in the same size
Cost $100 to shave them. The car definite handles better, without the tread squirm and now the tires don't heat up as bad which means less greasyness feeling at the limit on a hot day.

i went to an autox today...didnt run...cause i couldnt stay...but i will at the next one....ill visit the autox forum soon
