Default Throwing code 22 (vtec oil pressure) on b18c swap

This is Slacker.

I am throwing code 22 (vtec oil pressure) on 96 jdm b18c in a 99 civic ex. I am running a obd1 usdm p72 ecu. Need help resolvig this issue.

PS. I know the jdm motors did not come with this sensor.. but how can I "trick" the computer into not looking for it so vtec will work? Thanks!

Take out the CEL bulb. :db:

That's a good question. If I had any experience with the JDM motor I would help you out.

Why would it not have it? Isn't that how it engages VTEC is by reading that sensor? If it doesn't have it, how does it know when to engage? :dunno:

No the sensor just makes sure vtec doesn't engage without the correct oil pressure (no damage to engine). So in other words in won't engage without the sensor. Like I said the jdm motors don't have it.

if it doesnt engage without the sensor and JDM motors dont have the sensor then wouldnt that mean jdm motors cant use the Vtec????????? and my jdm motor had a vtec oil pressure, i know it for a fact bc i had to wire that the vtec solenoid and knock sensor directly to the ECU and i did it this past week

are you saying that you have a jdm motor, too and it has the sensor? or are you just saying that your usdm motor doesnt have one so you dont know?
