Default Just built "mini me"

The d16y7 block is under the d16y8 head. Everything is hooked up, but I'm having troubles with the timing.

My question is, when I put the timing belt on, dont I want the cam to be at TDC and the crank to be set to one of the timing marks, instead of the white TDC mark? My idle sounds pretty nasty, so I'm thinking that I am extremely far off from the correct timing.

bring cylinder 1 to TDC, then set your cam to TDC, then put the belt on. and you should have used a 1.5L bottom end for a little more power.

not too sure about the Dseries block, but on the Bseries, there's a mark on the timing gear on the crank that should be lined up to a mark on the oil pump with the cam at TDC.

You'll have to take the crank pully back off (obviously) but you have to do that anyway to fix it...
