Default 30,000 mile maintainance-are they KIDDING?

Hi!

I just called my dealer because my maintenance light popped on after 30,000 miles. Also my front right strut is going and I want it fixed before my warranty runs out.

They want to charge me $360.00 :madfawk: to do it. As if!

My hubby works on our other 4 cars so I know he could do it. What DO they do on a 30,000 mile check-up??

Please help!

was it the check engine light or the little light on the bottom? b/c the bottom one goes on every 7k miles, and you can get that to go away by sticking your key in the slot next to it.

and i don't think struts are covered by warranty, but i'm probably wrong. i'm sure your husband could do it (if he's done it before)

It's the scheduled maintenance light.

The service manager said they were covered. He better not lie because it takes an hour and a half to get there! (ugh)

He said they flush the radiator, replace plugs.........and then just stopped talking.

Does anyone know for sure?
Then I have to figure out how to shut the light off, but I believe it's in the manual.

i think there's a tricky way you can shut it off with disconnecting the battery for however long or what not.. but the service dpt can clear it much easier with their computer.. and for the rest on what the 30k is about... look in yr maintenance logbook

there shuld be a little hole next to it. you can just stick your key in it and it will go away. at least thats my car, not sure about 2001.

you could have your husband do what ever he is capaiable of and then have them do the rest. that way it would probably be cheaper cause they would deduct the parts and labor that they did not have to do.That is what i am gonna do for my 60,000 mile check up.

there is no hole to stick the key in that was only up to 2000. now there is a lite like the 98 and later accords.

On the 30k check the owners manual it tells you what is done

The struts on these cars have been blowing out left and right and make sure they do an alignment or you will need tires real soon because the toe is gonna change some are more drastic than others it all depends on the strut manufacturer.
