Default Getting performance out of the 01-03 Civic EX (modding in vain?)

I've heard some bad stories about modding this new Civic. Lots of people complain about the SOHC engine and all the emissions equipment really make this a tough car to modify. Is tht true? I recently bought a 03 Civic EX and I didnt hear of this until after I made the purchase. I would like to get some all motor power out of this car, but from what I've heard it's damn near impossible. Are these things I'm hearing true? And if so, am I modifyig in vain with this engine? I've been told many times to do an engine swap, but that never appealed to me.

There is not much all motor potential for your engine. If you want to swap you can, but by the time you spend the money you could of just bought the car your swapping from. FI is the only way to make a decent increase in power from your engine.

The 03' EX is just as good a car to mod as any. Turbo that bish and your in business. Bolt-ons are a waste of money on any SOHC no matter what year. All Motor SOHC's are really hard and expensive to build so I would'nt bother.
